The Graphic photos Below were sent in by David Sprague, from Sanford, Maine.
This deer was shot by him Oct 4th, 2004 at 5:30 PM.During the Regular Archery Season here in Maine.
The deer was shot in York County, Southern Maine.
David elected to leave this deer overnight, due to the fact he had very little light to trail this animal after having arrowed this deer. A very typical and suggested practice when archery hunting.
David and his friend Tom returned at sun up to retrieve Dave's deer. It was less than 11 hours from when Dave had climbed out of his treestand, the night before, after having shot this deer with a very good shot placement.
The deer only went 50 -60 yards away from Dave's stand where they found the deer the next morning.

Editor's note:
Some people think coyotes do no harm and that we should leave them running free and un-harvested! They say,
"Let nature take it's course!"  This is what we hear time and time again from Anti-Hunting Activists and from groups like The Humane Society. If we allow animals like coyotes to run free...which animal will become extinct first??
Coyotes and their overwhelming nature to pack and destroy,  will wipe out deer herds and small animals into near extinction or maybe even extinction!  I say, as I always do... Leave "Wild Game Management" to people that understand it!
The DIF&W and their Biologists!
The only problem I have is that the DIF&W of Maine continues to charge us a fee for permits to hunt this animal at night! With as much destruction as this creature does to the Wildlife population in Maine... I think the State should be paying "coyote hunters" a bounty for the time and efforts we spend hunting this animal! Paying this fee is ridiculous considering the problem that the coyotes are here in Maine, to wildlife! With Snaring being banned in this State (The Best Method of reducing Coyotes) , Hunters & Trappers are all we have left for reducing this animals numbers!
Many States out West have Bounties in place! We really need a bounty placed on these animals before it becomes a
serious issue here in Maine! Coyotes in York County, one might ask??.... Oh yes... thousands of them!
They are everywhere in your back yard! Any woods....Anyplace.... in Maine!
David.. this is a tragedy especially for a bow hunter that worked hard preparing for this harvest and to have this be the end of  your .."almost" successful harvest!  Steve Beckwith- Webmaster - Mainehunters.com
The Photos Below Are Graphic...
We believe that people should see just what Coyotes are doing here in Maine to all Animals, not just deer!
The Photos Below Are Graphic...
Moose, Deer,Grouse, Rabbits, Squirrels,Turkeys and other birds and animals all fall prey to this viscous creature that overwhelms our State Forests with their presence,
From Kittery to Caribou, Maine.
This doe was devoured within 11 hours by Coyotes!
They Coyotes had actually eaten most
of the underside hind quarter, through to the skin.
Photo above is Dave with his first archery harvest of 2004
Photo of same deer flipped over.
What a Shame!
